OSSI DURI HISTORY

The OSSI DURI "baby
snakes band" are made up of five very young musicians of ages ranging to 18 to 21 . They started off in '92 just for fun, when
Martin and
Ruben were only 8 and 6, to entertain their friends at school parties and birthdays.
In '93 they started performing live in a number of clubs in their area and a year later they decided to include a few
Zappa compositions in their repertoire.
Their first maxisingle C.D., called
"Niente squole niente maestre!" ("No more schools nor teachers!"), came out in '96 and contained four original songs and one Frank Zappa cover ("
Take your clothes off when you dance"), marking an extraordinary event: never before had such young musicians ventured on a field so complex and challenging as the one represented by Frank Zappa's music.
In July 97 they were asked to play for the " Zappa Day '97" in
Sarteano, Italy (part of the material in the second C.D. was recorded on that occasion) and in October of the same year they performed at the "Salone Internazionale della Musica di Torino" (
International Music Show of Turin) for a Zappa Memorial Afternoon in the Lingotto Auditorium.
In August '98 they performed at the
Zappanale #9, an open air festival, in Bad Doberan, Germany. In May '99 they perfomed at the "Zappadays" in Spoleto, Italy.
The #2 CD
"Sta chitarra ammazzerà tua madre" is therefore the natural development of their consolidated musical approach, a homage paid to a type of music that marked our contemporary times, a chance to reinforce the notion of "conceptual continuity" that characterized the production of Frank Zappa. With their #3 Cd they confirmed this approach.
In June '99 they released their third Cd "
Che Rocktura" which contains original, plus once again a tribute to Frank Zappa, "What's new in Baltimore". You can find an MP3 file of "
