Another project related to Ossi Duri, it's composed by Filippo Bellavia, Ruben, Simone e Martin.
They play rock and blues covers in Nothern Italian pubs.
"Zappa in blues", feat Ike Willis
I started the recordings of this Cd more then three years ago, in the March of 2005.
The idea came to me while I was at my barber’s, Mimmo, a guitarist who always keeps a number of guitars in the back of his shop.
Every time I go for a haircut he invites me to try them out. One day he gave me a Cd called “The Beatles in Blues”, so I said to myself: “Why not do one called “Zappa in Blues”? Frank Zappa’s music has been my soundtrack since the age of fifteen, the lullaby sung to my three children, Martin, Ruben and Emanuela and the topic that I have always brought up in countless situations (serious and less serious).
It’s the music that my older sons have been playing since they were little boys with their band called Ossi Duri. His music is like an incurable virus I’ve been infected with. So I talk about Frank Zappa even at the barber’s, and “Zappa in Blues” can be said to be the fruit of my “compulsive-obsessive disorder”.
Blues was Zappa’s first love, and he listened to tons of it with his friend Captain Beefheart. The Mothers of Invention were mistaken for a blues band! But Zappa interpreted blues his own way, and desecrated it, as he did with everything he came into contact with.
With this work I just tried to satisfy my need to go over a small section of his great music, to enjoy once again the splendid tunes created by this great American composer, fifteen years after his death.
